Yoshida Park (Shizuoka Prefecture Managed Park)
Nature experience in the cityside park commanding Suruga Bay and the Oi River
Only a 15 minute-drive from Shizuoka Mt. Fuji Airport will bring you to this park. Yoshida Park sits on approximately 14 hectares of prime preserve. It boasts an expansive grassy field area, a biotope area with ponds, and flowers gardens where seasonal flowers such as daffodils, plum blossoms, cherry blossoms, tulips, azaleas, hydrangeas, sunflowers, and cosmoses bloom. The park is home to an annual Tulip Festival held in the spring. The grassy field area is often used for various events such as outdoor music concerts. The Yoshida fishing port is famous for its whitebait catch. The Yoshida whitebait dishes are a must try! The steamed fresh whitebait prepared by a traditional method called “Kamaage Shirasu” and the sun-dried whitebait called “Chirimen Shirasu” are both excellent!
