Oigawa River Area’s Aito-en Tea Farm connects people to the rich history of tea culture. Join Mr. and Mrs. Aito as they guide you through their fields and farming process. Kawane—the town where this farm is located—is renowned as one of the top three quality green teas in all of Japan and has even been awarded more than ten times in nationwide tea contests. Tea grown at Aito-en has a sweetness and savory umami that persists even after the third brewing.

Kanetou Miura Tea Farm

Travel to the bay area and discover the long-practiced agricultural technique called the tea-grass integrated system used at Kanetou Miura Tea Farm. This traditional Shizuoka method uses wild-growing grasses like Japanese silver grass and broadleaf bamboo as organic fertilizers and is designated a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System. The sloping terrain combined with more than ten different cultivars that match the soil all come together to create amazing single origin teas. If you’re after a view of Mount Fuji with your tea field adventure, look no further than Murakami Tea Garden. More than 350 meters up the mountainside, this tea farm is often blanketed in a sea of clouds—which can provide natural shade. Some of the tea trees here are more than 100 years old and the zairai in particular is an indigenous variety. The all-organic tea farming techniques of Murakami make for a rich experience that has been passed down from generation to generation.
