Shizuoka Chanomachi

Shizuoka Downtown

This tea town within Shizuoka City began back in the Edo Period (1603–1867) and was established by Ieyasu Tokugawa bringing together multiple tea shops. Now it is home to 100 tea wholesalers and remains the center of the Japanese tea industry and culture.

Chanomachi is a group of masters within the tea industry, created to promote tea and guide people around the area. The contents of the tours vary each month, from the "teahouse experience", "Chanomachi walk" to the "tea tasting experience". Please check our website for more details on the current tour.

Access

  • 15 minutes on foot or 5 minutes by car from Shizuoka Station.
  • Alight at Anzai 2-chome on the Shizutetsu Bus.
