Hanazawa no Sato is a mountain village which lies in a valley. There is an uphill slope named Yakitsube Small Lane which is said to be the main Tokaido route in the Nara era. (The Nara era dates back over 1,000 years ago).
This area is designated as the Preservation District for Groups of Historic Buildings, because of the unique scenery with a combination of stone wall, old houses and nature.
You can enjoy walking around this area and seeing cultural properties. As you stroll by, you can also enjoy an abundance of nature along the walking path named Tokai Nature Trail. To cap off your visit, enjoy a panoramic view of Mt. Fuji, the city center of Shizuoka, Suruga Bay, Yaizu Fishing Port, and the Southern Japan Alps mountain range from the top of Mankanho Hill.
