Kanetou Miura Tea Farm

Shizuoka's Traditional Tea-Grass Integrated System is a long-practiced agricultural production technique. To see what a Shizuoka Terroir is, come visit Kanetou Tea Farm and experience tea production firsthand. 

From autumn to winter, you can help the farmers take care of their tea fields using traditional techniques. Plants surrounding the tea fields, Japanese silver grass, and Sasa broadleaf bamboo, are cut and spread as an organic fertilizer on the tea field. This traditional method was designated as a GIAHS (Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System) site in 2013. 

In addition, you can look around tea fields, enjoy the taste of several kinds of tea cultivars. Unrefined tea leaves (aracha) have a particularly special taste and flavor. Before you leave, tea experts with a Japanese Tea Instructor certification will serve you a cup of tasty green tea.
